Perform fresh produce recall up and down the supply chain
FarmSoft allows recalls based on invoice, purchase order, customer reference, delivery date, delivery docket, sales order, and more. No more recording redundant data on multiple logs or spreadsheet. Instant recall makes audits easy and fast and reduces quality and standard compliance costs. You can also record multiple levels of traceability data, for example, your suppliers supplier can be documented, along with batch and lot codes for their produce. This data can make comprehensive product recalls rapid and instant. Multi-level traceability is not support by many competitor fresh produce solutions.

What is cascading traceability?
We just made that up. Just kidding – its a system whereby fresh produce is processed in a a batch, and may in turn be used in other batches, and those batches may in turn be used in additional batches and so on. This is a common practice when processing fresh produce where the harvest needs to be mixed together, is graded or sorted, then packed with other produce at a later time. This practice is also common in food processing and value adding processes, where an input to one batch may in turn be used in many other batches. FarmSoft handles this complex traceability challenge with ease and provides reliable and comprehensive cascading traceability management. Many competitor fresh produce solutions do not support cascading traceability.

Traceback & The Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI)

Traceability system is successfully completed. The new system enables mills to map their smallholder supply base and trace smallholder fresh fruit bunch (FFB) deliveries from the mills back to their farms. A key innovation in this project is the ability to provide smallholders with agronomic recommendations from mills and supporting organisations for increasing productivity, as part of their participation in the traceability system. Changes in aerobic plate count (APC) and Escherichia coli/coliform count (ECC) of inshell walnuts and walnut kernels were evaluated during commercial harvest and postharvest handling. APC and ECC for inshell walnuts collected from the tree were 6 and 4 log CFU/nut, respectively;...

More good news arrived in January when Walmart and Sam's Club began requiring suppliers of fresh produce to apply PTI-compliant labels on shipments arriving at their distribution centers. Temporary exceptions are granted to firms working toward the labeling goal, but otherwise produce shipments will be rejected. Publix Super Markets had given PTI a similar push, but the chain lacked the market clout to get a critical mass of shippers behind the effort.

Lettuce and leafy greens have been implicated in multiple foodborne disease outbreaks. This study quantifies cross contamination between lettuce pieces in a small-scale home environment. A five-strain cocktail of relevant Escherichia coli O157:H7 strains was used. Bacterial...

Treelinks have developed systems to ensure that all our products are traceable as a minimum back to the supplier but in many cases we are able to trace our products back to the plantation and in some the more advanced origins we can even trace the goods to the individual grower.

Intended to provide information on the origins of a product, its location and the various transformation processes, traceability emerged in the 1990s to finally become established a decade later. Viewed as a necessity, the traceability requirement appeared for the first time in Article 18 of EC Regulation 178/200 in a document from the EU, which was followed in 2004 by others, including the hygiene package” on foodstuffs. Europe is a leader in the field. The United States waited until January 2011 to follow suit, by passing the Food Safety Modernization Act, establishing a traceability requirement.
