Citrus in Australia

Australia's main citrus regions are the SA Riverland, the Murray Valley and Sunraysia (VIC/NSW), the NSW Riverina, Queensland's Central Burnett (Gayndah and Mundubbera) and Western Australia. Navels, Valencias and mandarins (including Imperial and Afourer) lead volume, and a large share is exported.

A 2015 NSW DPI review of food safety and postharvest sanitation in citrus packhouses (Singh, Golding and Marques) notes that the 'clean, green and safe' image of Australian citrus is a competitive advantage in export markets that has to be maintained with documented sanitation.
