Potato in Australia
It is no longer practical to grow potatoes for a general market: growers produce to the specification of a particular buyer – fresh market, crisping or French fry – or face penalties and rejection. Variety, spacing, agronomy, desiccation and storage are all planned around that specification. Western Australia still has a Ware Potato Grading and Packing Code.
