Avocado in Australia
Australian avocados are supplied year-round from Queensland (Atherton Tablelands, Bundaberg, Sunshine Coast), Western Australia (Pemberton, Manjimup, Gingin), northern NSW and the SA Riverland. Hass dominates volume, with Shepard filling the early Queensland window.
Bruising is the main quality risk on the way to market. Fruit cooled to about 5 °C tolerates handling far better and is less likely to rot as it softens, so pre-cooling as soon as possible after harvest is standard practice.
From receival to invoice
