Iceberg, cos, baby leaf, spinach and Asian greens are grown year-round – Queensland's Lockyer Valley in winter, Victoria's Werribee South, Lindenow and the Mornington Peninsula, NSW's Sydney Basin and Tasmania in the warmer months.
Since 12 February 2025, growers and primary processors of leafy vegetables must meet FSANZ Standard 4.2.8: a food safety management statement, managed inputs (seed, soil, fertiliser, water), hygiene and traceability of where produce came from and went. Vacuum cooling within hours of harvest decides shelf life.
