Horticulture Code record keeping
Under the Horticulture Code of Conduct, traders (agents and merchants) and growers must keep particular documents for at least 6 years – electronic copies are acceptable, and the ACCC can inspect them.
| Trader record | Producepak |
|---|---|
| Horticulture produce agreements | Stored against the grower |
| Notices of rejected produce, with reasons | QC rejection with photos and reason code |
| Statements to growers for each reporting period | Generated from pack-out and sales |
| Names of all growers dealt with | Grower register |
- Same-week pack-out summaries for growers
- RCTIs with GST handled
- Rejection notices with photos
- 6-year electronic record retention

Fewer grower phone calls
In an exporter case study, office time answering grower pack-out queries fell from 15 to 3 hours a week in peak season once growers received summaries the same week.
Pack-outs growers can check
Each grower statement shows bins received, cartons packed by grade and count, the price basis and every deduction, so growers can see how the return was reached instead of ringing the office.
