Salad in Australia
Cut, washed and packed salad involves multiple wash stations, visual inspection, mixing, drying (spin dryers or air knives) and packing. Leafy vegetables are covered by FSANZ Standard 4.2.8, the primary production and processing standard for berries, leafy vegetables and melons, which took effect in February 2025. The Fresh Produce Safety Centre's 2022 guidelines describe good practice for wash water and sanitation.
